Ankle Deep In Databases

I am in the process of trying to set up, on the fly, two databases to use with my fall semester classes. This would be a simple enough task if I had worked with MYSQL or PHP at some time in the past, but instead it is a crash course in humility. That being said, it is an exciting kind of humility. I feel like I am really diving into something new here, and it is addictive.

Although I have been playing with HTML for about six years, and feel pretty comfortable with it, but I have not been keeping up with the cutting edge. Site development has changed a lot since I started, and I have not entirely kept up with all the changes. That is one of the reasons that I chose to use this software for this blog, it is simple and requires very little knowledge. I originally wanted to jump in with both feet and try my hand at Movable Type, but my provider (.Mac) does not allow the necessary scripting languages. If these two new databases work out OK, I just might end up firing up Moveable Type as well.
(NOTE:This site moved to MovableType on 10/15/2003)

As I have been getting slowly frustrated with the .Mac philosophy of marketing to the newbie, and creating an annoying ceiling of options available to others, I opted to go out and get an additional web host. I found a GREAT hosting service, the customer service is so fantastic that it even makes my wife happy. I have emailed them three times with rather simple (to them) questions about my service, and I have yet to receive a reply that took more than 7 minutes! That amazes me. It makes me want to host more sites with them. If only I needed more.
So anyway, that is why I am still up at 1:30 in the morning sitting in front of the computer. I am getting ready to dig into Moodle and work on my second database.
Cheers
