Comment Spam
I have fully enabled comment moderation on the site for the time being, as I seem to be under attack at the moment. The spam comments have been coming in since around 4:30 AM, at some points at the rate of four per minute. I have already deleted well over 300 spam comments this morning! I guess it is time to look into some more spam guards for the site…
What does this mean to you? Probably nothing, but if you want to post a comment to my site today, you will have to wait for me to confirm that you are not trying to lead my down the rocky road of online gambling, or trying to increase the size of my penis.
Cheers

I see you are using Wordpress. Have you enabled the word-list as well as limited the number of links in a post?

Scott,
If I can find the time, I might add a word embedded in an image as a comment key to keep away the bots.
Yes, and yes.
That is why I was amazed by the attack. I was getting two spammers at the same time. One was going directly to moderation because of multiple links, while the other was consistently sliding under the wire with only one link. The latter was the more aggressive of the two. Although he/she/it used both “poker” and “casino” in all of the comments, somehow my word list did not catch it. (”poker” and “casino” were already in there)
I ended up changing the name of the comment script, which should hold for a while.
